Susanna Antico Lighting Design Studio aims to improve the quality of the public space in the interests of its citizens and visitors. It will do so by delivering effective lighting design focused on the quality of the night-time visual environment, the emphasis or the creation of the night-time identity and on the sustainability of the lighting system.
The lighting is designed to answer human visual, physiological and psychological needs and the city’s needs in terms of night-time economy and marketing as well as its requirements for efficient, energy-saving, low maintenance and long-life lighting installations.
Quality lighting design contributes to the livability of cities, it’s is much more than a luminance value.
Following the decision taken by the city of Antwerp to adopt the Lighting Masterplan elaborated by Studio Antico in 2013 and to apply it to any new lighting in the city, the city council decided to renovate the lighting of the Grote Markt – the historical market and the centre of the historical city.
Lighting should be felt and not seen.
The lighting design schemes of the built environment are considered added values, in harmony and integration with the environment to be lit.
